A Journey of Discovery: A Brief History of Chester Claff, the Rotary International Million Dollar Meal, and Dinah Kohner 

This multi-faceted presentation connects the stories of Chester Claff, Sr., who was president of what was then the Randolph Rotary Club, and Dr. Dinah Kohner, a young woman from Belfast, Northern Ireland. She was the recipient of a Rotary International scholarship funded by Claff’s inspirational Million Dollar Meal idea. Michael’s research uncovered connections with the Kindertransport, by which many children escaped the Holocaust before World War II. 

Using newly discovered audiotape along with historical photographs, this dynamic presentation brings this story to life, including Michael’s visit to Belfast earlier this year, where he gave this presentation to the Belfast Rotary Club and met the brother of Dinah Kohner.

A discussion period, with time for questions, is offered at the end of the presentation. Michael currently serves as president of Randolph-Avon-Canton Rotary Club.
