Don’t Just Take Our Word for It!
Our agency’s website continues to reflect our ongoing mission to provide you with accurate, timely, and useful information.
The topic today is not about specific policies or types of insurance. It is about how you can be an educated consumer and be involved in developing your insurance plan, knowing your options. Being knowledgeable will help you get the most out of your insurance, and it may even save you money!
As with anything you want to learn, you need to know where to go for trustworthy and accurate information. Be careful when you read articles that include generalities about discounts or coverage features, without referring to the states or specific situations where those factors will apply. Remember, each state has different regulations, and what is okay for one state may not be available in another. Also, insurance companies vary in their offerings.
Recently, one of our clients sent me an email stating that insurance companies will provide a discount if you drive on average 50 miles per day. The client referenced an article which they shared with me. The article was vague about the discount and did not specify the insurance company or the process to qualify for the discount.
This discount did not ring true to me, so I did research.
I sent a form for the client to complete, along with the insurance company’s requirements to qualify. The information they provided did not qualify them for any discount, and I let them know this.
They replied that it is a mandate in the state of Massachusetts to rebate based on miles driven. Asked for more information about the source of this assertion, so far, they have not provided any.
Rather than rely on vague articles about insurance “mandates,” which may or may not be legitimate, we encourage you to check reliable sources for verification.
Trust is a hallmark of our agency. You will not hear anything from us that is not verified or verifiable. We rely on independent sources that are not connected financially to an insurance company. We suggest that you do as well to become an informed consumer.
